COBoard Wiki is an effort to build a comprehensive, cross linked resource about character optimization (CO) in Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. The CO community has grown quite large and organized and it is the belief of this editor that message boards have become too small for its projects. Namely, message boards are not suited for writing handbooks and have limitations such as:
- Posts have a hard limit on their size. Large handbooks must be broken into several parts.
- The creator of a handbook is the only one who can edit it. That means the speed at which a handbook can be improved is limited by him. Of he leaves the community, his handbook cannot be improved at all.
- There is no easy way to cross link different handbooks.
- Handbooks whose threads are not posted in for a time are archived, and all formatting is lost.
Therefore, a wiki is the way to go.
